The role

Sweet Cherry are looking for an experienced and dynamic Sales Executive to sell to key UK and international accounts. They will be servicing major UK high street retailers and trade accounts and building strong relationships within export territories. They will be working closely with a number of international distribution partners and reps.

The ideal candidate will have experience in selling to accounts and will be looking to build their career developing key sales strategies across a growing list. They will be a strong negotiator with a proven track record growing accounts and providing sales forecasts.

The Sales Executive will work closely with the Publisher/Head of Sales to analyse the sales data and feedback market requests to the team. You will be selling a variety of products from novelty formats, gift and trade fiction.

This role would suit a self-starter who can hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and corresponding with customers in various territories across the world
  • Working with sales agents in key areas such as Asia and South America
  • Managing the sell-in process of English language books in key non-UK territories
  • Preparing and presenting sales presentations and material
  • Interpreting sales data in order to maximise sales opportunities
  • Developing sales opportunities by establishing new customer relationships
  • Offering strong customer support and answering any queries
  • Supporting the planning and organisation of trade book fairs
  • Working with the sales support team to ensure orders are processed and fulfilled
  • Attending UK and international trade book fairs, as and when required
  • Researching international book markets and providing market reports

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Great geographical knowledge
  • Experience in export sales beneficial but not essential
  • Passion for reading and a keen interest in book publishing
  • Energy and passion to drive the business forward
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly numerate
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • An all-rounded self starter who can hit the ground running

Ideal candidate must have:

  • Knowledge of a variety of different types of sales accounts
  • The ability to forecast sales, analyse sales data and to provide helpful market feedback to the publishing team
  • A valid UK driving licence and car, and be able to visit key accounts as and when required
  • Strong research, negotiation and communication skills
  • A willingness to drive business forward
  • A positive, can-do attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work from your own initiative
  • Drive, energy and a passion for books

Working Hours:

  • 40 hours a week Monday to Friday Core office hours: 9.00am-5.00pm
