Job description

A rare opportunity has arisen to join the Foreign Rights team at Magic Cat Publishing. We are looking for a Foreign Rights Coordinator to support our growing team and help expand the international reach of our publishing list.

Magic Cat is a multi-award-winning independent children's publisher founded in 2019. Based in Farringdon, London, we create beautifully illustrated books for children that are sold around the world. This role is part of an expanding and collaborative team, working together from our London office three days per week and remotely for the remaining two days.

This position would suit someone with a passion for exceptional children's books, who enjoys working in a creative, non-corporate environment and is eager to learn, contribute and grow alongside an ambitious independent publisher.

The Role

As Foreign Rights Coordinator, you will have two key areas of responsibility:

1. Supporting the Foreign Rights team with a range of administrative tasks, including coordinating book fair attendance, organising international trips, preparing rights materials and producing newsletters.

2. Managing rights sales in selected territories, including the Baltics, Turkey, the Middle East and parts of Asia, building relationships with international publishers and helping to grow Magic Cat's global presence.

About You

We are looking for a smart, enthusiastic, resourceful and adaptable individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

You will have:

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A meticulous eye for detail.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
  • Experience with Excel, Mailchimp and Biblio would be advantageous.
  • A foreign language, particularly one spoken in the territories listed above, would be highly desirable.

Experience

We welcome applications from recent Publishing graduates as well as Publishing Assistants looking to take the next step in their careers.

Salary

Salary will be dependent on experience.
