Bloomsbury Special Interest are looking to recruit an Artworker.

We are looking for enthusiastic and creative artworker to work across the numerous Bloomsbury Special Interest Non-fiction imprints including Sigma (popular science), Green Tree (Health and Wellness), Bloomsbury Sport, Bloomsbury Continuum (Politics, Religion, Philosophy), Bloomsbury Wildlife, Conway and Reeds (Nautical) Bloomsbury Business and Herbert Press (Craft and Art)

The role

  • As an artworker, you’ll be using Adobe CS to generate final artwork for reprints and preparing covers for press for our frontlist titles. You will thrive within a busy and fast-moving environment and channel your unbridled passion for creative imagery into tasks such as rebranding and designing back covers.
  • Some artwork experience in design within the publishing industry would be an advantage, but is not essential. To be successful, you’ll need great organisation skills with the ability to jump between projects as necessary.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Ability to liaise with editors, and other members of the team and department.
  • Highly proficient in InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Able to supply files for repro and print
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Proactive, independent and able to work to proscribed deadlines and schedules.
  • An interest in entering the publishing industry within the design environment

The role is a full-time permanent position

Salary Pay Point: £27,000

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are Monday and Tuesday.

As an Assistant role, this position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
